FAQ

What is a facilitated drum circle?

A facilitated drum circle is a when a group of people play percussion instruments and hand drums together, aided by a facilitator. It is distinct from a performance troupe, in that the goals are not to perform or play a specific piece of music, or ethnic music style.  The facilitator acts as a guide to help the individuals function as a group, and make it easy for everyone to participate and have fun, regardless of experience or ability.

I'm not musical. Do I need to be a musician or drummer to participate?

No! Drum circles are accessible to everyone, especially non-musicians. The goals is not to perform, but to give yourself permission to play. It's all about recreational music making. There are no mistakes in a drum circle. If you have a heartbeat, you've got rhythm!

What ages are appropriate for participating in a drum circle?

2 to 92! Drum circles are great for kids, teenagers, and adults. People of all ages, abilities, races, creeds can participate successfully in a drum circle.
